Daniel Meadows has just released this video and for me this and other things like it is for me what contemporary photography is all about.

Just over a year ago Shona, Jessica and I travelled down to Wales and spent a day with Daniel Meadows and his wife Georgia. We interviewed Daniel for The ContemporaryTimes and discovered how from the start at Manchester Polytechnic He, Martin Parr, Brian Griffin, Peter Fraser, Charlie Meecham and Kate Mellor  all went on to chronicle England.

I was in London with Leica a few weeks ago and there were some students there, working their way through a degree in photography. I asked them what they wanted to do when they left and they all wanted to head out to The Middle East which is fair enough. But I think when we look back at work like Daniels it is of so much interest and I think England today is possibly even more interesting to chronicle than it was in the 70s.
